Which salary taxes apply in the UAE?

The UAE Government says it does not levy Income Tax on individuals. The Dubai guide therefore models salary Income Tax at 0% for its expatriate employee case.

Business profits need a separate assessment. Company taxes and free-zone conditions do not follow from a personal salary exemption. Employer benefits and fees also affect the cash package offered for a job.

Is Monaco tax free for British residents?

The Monaco salary model assumes a non-French resident employee. France’s tax administration confirms that Monaco does not charge resident individuals Income Tax, with separate French treaty rules and specific exceptions for French nationals that this model does not assess (BOFiP, 2 June 2021; checked 25 October 2026). Employee social contributions still apply.

The Monaco guide includes retirement, unemployment and mandatory supplementary pension contributions. It also shows the dated rent estimate. An employee does not keep the entire gross salary simply because personal Income Tax is absent.

Are there low-tax countries in Europe?

Europe has several special regimes, each with its own eligibility rules. Italy offers a fixed annual charge on qualifying new residents’ foreign income. Switzerland has expenditure-based taxation for eligible arrivals, with restrictions on local work. Malta has remittance-based treatment and special programmes.

These regimes do not establish the tax on an ordinary employee’s whole salary. The Italy guide, Switzerland guide and Malta guide separate them from the salary engines.

Does Spain’s Beckham law apply to every arrival?

Spain’s special expatriate regime has separate eligibility rules from ordinary resident taxation (Agencia Tributaria, 24 October 2026). This calculator uses ordinary state and Madrid tax rules and does not assess a Beckham law claim.

The Spain guide shows what the ordinary employee model includes. Check the relevant special-regime rules separately before replacing its result with a promotional rate.

Is Portugal’s NHR regime still open to everyone?

No. Older NHR descriptions do not establish eligibility for new applicants. The narrower research and innovation incentive, called IFICI, has specified work and employer conditions. It is not a general offer for British retirees.

The Portugal guide explains the distinction and models ordinary mainland employee taxes. Its source list includes the Portuguese tax benefits code.

Can UK tax continue in a tax free country?

Yes. UK tax residence follows the statutory residence test, and UK-source income or property gains can remain taxable after non-residence begins. A foreign permit does not cancel those duties.

Use the residence guide and day counter and UK exit tax guide for the British checks. See the Budget tracker for announcements and effective dates.

How should I compare the actual cost of living?

Start with an available salary and the housing you would rent. Add regular spending and any costs currently paid by an employer. The 13-country take-home table compares deductions; stay or go adds the site’s rent assumptions.

How do Ireland's employee charges compare with special regimes?

Ireland combines ordinary Income Tax with Universal Social Charge and Pay Related Social Insurance. Its personal and employment credits reduce the tax calculation. That employee case needs its own comparison with an available job.

The Ireland guide uses those ordinary rules. It does not substitute a foreign-income regime from another country for the tax due on Irish work.
